Sir Thomas Abney Primary School

School Day

Our school day is organised to provide maximum time for learning across a broad and balanced curriculum. In a typical week the school provides 32.5 hours. The school day begins at 9.00am, when children are greeted by their teacher and are registered for the day. We hold collective assemblies for children to learn about current events, celebrate festivals, share learning, sing, celebrate and be reflective. At lunchtime, children can enjoy a school meal or a packed lunch and make full use of our extensive playgrounds, our gardens and the range of lunchtime activities like: lego club, basketball and kingball. The school day ends at 3.30pm.

We offer a positive start to the day by providing a breakfast club from 8.00am. Here, children can enjoy a healthy breakfast, participate in a range of activities and prepare for the start of the day.

After school, we provide an array of activities and clubs for children to explore hobbies and have fun. Nation Sports offer provision from 3.30-5.30pm. Please view our extended schools page for further details.
