Pupil Premium
Pupil premium is funding allocated to schools for the purpose of boosting the attainment of disadvantaged pupils.
It is intended to enable schools to provide targeted support to help children reach their full potential.Funding is allocated based on the number of pupils who:
- claim free school meals or have claimed free school meals in the last 6 years
- are currently looked after by the Local Authority or have left Local Authority care
It is for schools to decide how the pupil premium funding is spent, since they are best placed to assess what additional provision should be made for the individual pupils they are responsible for. However, schools are held accountable and must demonstrate they are spending the funding effectively.
